Named as one of Orange County’s “Top-Rated DUI Attorneys” by AVVO, Peter F. Iocona is highly regarded in the legal community for his criminal and DUI defense work. To date, he has been recognized by some of the most prestigious organizations in the field, including selection for inclusion in the coveted list of Super Lawyers® Rising Stars℠ in 2015, and again in 2016. Only 2.5% of all practicing lawyers in the U.S. are awarded with this distinction.
With dozens of DUI trial cases behind him, and a long history of success backing his career, Peter is well-known throughout Southern California for his DUI defense work. The National Trial Lawyers Association has named him one of the “Top 100 Trial Lawyers” in the U.S. and he has been included in the “Nation’s Top One Percent,” by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel (NADC).
Legal Background
Peter obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from Whittier College School of Law. He began his legal career in 2000 at the Law Office of Barry T. Simons, where he became a lead trial lawyer in 2009 and Managing Attorney in 2012. He left the firm in 2016 to form The SoCal Law Network with his partners, Alan Castillo and Marlo Cordero.
Since beginning his legal career, Peter has been actively involved in a number of legal and DUI organizations. He writes and lectures about DMV Administrative Per Se (A.P.S.) hearings, search and seizure law, DUI drugs, DMV writs and appeals, as well as interstate driver’s license consequences.
From 2003-to-2016, Peter served as a “Contributing Editor” for “California Drunk Driving Law,” a two-volume treatise often considered to be the “Bible of Drunk Driving Law” in California.
Peter has taken extensive measures to ensure he provides the ultimate in DUI defense to the clients he represents. He is “Certified” in breath testing procedures, including the proper use and maintenance of the Alco-Sensor IV-Preliminary Alcohol Screening (PAS) test device. Peter has “Qualified” as a “Standardized Field Sobriety Test Administrator” and as a “Standardized Field Sobriety Test Instructor”. He has also been trained in the area of DUI drug defense, receiving Drug Recognition Expert instruction and training and served as an expert panelist for the DUI Drugs seminar, “DUI Drugs, Says Who?” sponsored by the California Association of Toxicologists (C.A.T.) and the Orange County Crime Laboratory.
